FOSTERING A WELCOMING REGION

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) are planning bodies through which Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) funds and supports the development of community-based partnerships to address the needs of newcomers. The main objective of the LIPs is to strive to engage a wide variety of stakeholders in a focused strategic planning process to strengthen welcoming communities for newcomers, which promotes their success in Canada. While the newcomer serving sector is a key collaborator, other partners include employers, school boards, libraries, health agencies, boards of trade, various government representatives, professional associations, ethno-cultural and faith-based organizations.

What is a LIP?

History of our LIP

Vision

The Capital Region Integration Network engages stakeholders and community partners to increase awareness, strengthen capacity, and foster collaboration to better meet the needs of newcomers.

Mandate

Engage diverse council members with experience in the settlement and integration of newcomers.
Strengthen the region’s capacity to welcome newcomers and improve integration by fostering a welcoming community.
Assess the needs of the community and its newcomers to identify gaps in service.
Align with partners and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies and action plans.

Structure

Provides strategic oversight for the CAIR Strategy, ensuring accountability, alignment, and continuous improvement. While not involved in CRIN operations, the committee holds the strategy to its goals and outcomes.
The stakeholder advisory board for CRIN. NPC actively advises on strategic priorities that aid with integration and settlement of immigrants within the Capital Region.
Working in conjunction with the Newcomer Partnership Council, the IAC provides guidance and feedback to ensure that immigrant perspectives always inform the work and decisions of CRIN.
Each CAIR Strategy pillar is supported by a network of aligned stakeholders and newcomers, led by a designated Champion. Champions coordinate meetings and work plans, with CRIN staff helping to capture progress and ensure it's integrated into the broader CRIN framework.
Formed from each Pillar Network’s work plan, these groups focus on specific objectives and timelines within the CAIR Strategy. Each group is led by an appointed Chair and supported by CRIN staff to drive progress and coordination.
