CHARTER
A practical roadmap for creating more inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplaces
The Workplace Inclusion Charter (WIC) is a voluntary employer recognition program that supports organizations in creating more inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplaces through practical actions, evidence-informed resources, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Developed through collaboration with employers, community organizations, and subject matter experts across New Brunswick's Capital Region, the Charter reflects local priorities while drawing on national research, promising practices, and lessons learned from a growing network of Workplace Inclusion Charters across Canada.
The Capital Region Workplace Inclusion Charter is launching as a pilot program, allowing participating organizations to help shape and strengthen the Charter as it evolves. Feedback gathered throughout the pilot will inform future enhancements and support the continued growth of the program.
The Workplace Inclusion Charter recognizes that every organization's inclusion journey is different. Rather than expecting organizations to have every policy and practice in place from the start, the Charter encourages employers to build on existing strengths, take meaningful action, and make ongoing progress over time.
Continuous improvement, not perfection.
Who can participate?
The Workplace Inclusion Charter is designed for employers of all sizes and sectors, including businesses, non-profit organizations, municipalities, educational institutions, and public organizations.
Whether your organization is just beginning its inclusion journey or building on existing initiatives, the Charter provides flexible commitments that can be adapted to your organization's priorities, capacity, and stage of development.
Why participate?

How it Works?
Step 1:
Sign the Declaration:
Begin your Workplace Inclusion Charter journey by signing the Declaration of Commitment to Workplace Inclusion. The Declaration should be signed by both a senior leader and an operational representative to demonstrate organization-wide commitment and support for creating a more inclusive workplace.
Step 2:
Complete Charter Commitments:
Choose and implement commitments across the Charter's four focus areas based on your organization's priorities and capacity. Each commitment includes practical employer actions, examples of acceptable evidence, information about why it matters, and curated resources to support implementation.
Step 3:
Submit Evidence
Document the commitments your organization has completed and submit evidence demonstrating how they have been implemented. Organizations can work toward Bronze, Silver, or Gold recognition by completing commitments across all four Charter categories before the annual submission deadline.
Step 4:
Receive Recognition:
Celebrate your organization's commitment to workplace inclusion through the Workplace Inclusion Charter recognition program. Participating organizations will be recognized through Charter celebrations, certificates, promotional opportunities, and other recognition activities that highlight their achievements.
