Lakmé, the daughter of a Hindu priest, and Gérald, a fickle English soldier, develop a passionate love for each other. Between these two people, who are complete opposites, refined and poetic music serves as a medium to express all the nuances of their tragic destiny. Whether through the harmonic warmth of the "Flower Duet" or the impressive brilliance of the essential "Bells' Air," Lakmé is a rich work, conveying the inspirations of the Orientalist movement of the late 19th century .
