Pronoun inclusion practices
Employers commit to supporting and normalizing voluntary pronoun sharing in email signatures, meetings, communications, and self-introductions.
Employer Actions
Organizations should foster workplace practices that support respectful pronoun sharing and gender inclusion. To fulfill this commitment, organizations are encouraged to:
Encourage employees to include pronouns in email signatures and workplace communications where comfortable
Promote respectful pronoun sharing during introductions, meetings, and training activities
Provide guidance and resources on pronoun inclusion and respectful language practices
Normalize pronoun sharing across all levels of the organization, including leadership
Review workplace policies and communications to ensure they reflect gender-inclusive practices
Evidence Requirements
To complete this commitment, organizations are asked to:
Review workplace communication or inclusion practices to identify opportunities to support respectful pronoun inclusion
Implement at least two practices that support gender-inclusive communication, such as:
encouraging voluntary pronoun sharing in email signatures or introductions
providing guidance on respectful pronoun use and inclusive language
promoting leadership participation in inclusive communication practices
incorporating pronoun inclusion into onboarding, meetings, or workplace communications
reviewing workplace policies or materials for gender-inclusive language
Submit a short reflection describing actions taken and future opportunities for improvement
Evidence may include:
Email signature examples or communication materials
Inclusive language guidance documents
Training materials or awareness resources
Workplace policy or communication updates
Reflection summary
Impact
Encouraging pronoun sharing fosters respect for diverse gender identities and helps create an inclusive workplace culture. This commitment promotes understanding, reduces misgendering, and supports employees in feeling recognized, valued, and affirmed in their identity.
