Commitments

Recruiting & Onboarding

Commitment 1:

Inclusive recruitment practices

Employers commit to recruitment approaches that encourage applications from a diverse pool of candidates.

Employer Actions

Organizations should implement recruitment practices that reduce barriers and encourage applications from a diverse pool of candidates. To fulfill this commitment, organizations are encouraged to:

  • Build relationships with community organizations that support underrepresented job seekers

  • Share job postings across multiple platforms and networks to reach a broader and more diverse audience

  • Use recruitment methods that extend beyond formal or internal networks

  • Review recruitment strategies every two years to identify gaps, barriers, and underserved groups

  • Train hiring staff on inclusive recruitment practices and bias reduction throughout the hiring process

Evidence Requirements

To complete this commitment, organizations are asked to:

  • Implement at least two inclusive recruitment outreach actions.

  • Submit a short reflection describing actions taken and future opportunities for improvement.

Evidence may include:

  • Job advertisements or screenshots

  • Recruitment outreach examples

  • Communication with community organizations

  • Recruitment plans or internal notes

Impact

Inclusive recruitment practices help organizations reach a wider range of candidates and reduce barriers in hiring. Expanding recruitment efforts can improve representation and help workplaces reflect the communities they serve. These practices also help applicants feel welcomed, respected, and included.
