Commitment 4:

Inclusion and anti-racism metrics for leadership

Employers commit to incorporating anti-racism and inclusion measures into leadership performance reviews, strategic plans, and organizational accountability processes. 

Employer Actions

Organizations should integrate anti-racism and inclusion goals into leadership accountability processes and organizational planning. To fulfill this commitment, organizations are encouraged to: 

  • Define clear and measurable anti-racism and inclusion indicators that align with organizational goals and workplace practices (Example: training completion, employee feedback, representation in leadership positions, inclusive leadership behaviours, etc.) 

  • Include anti-racism and inclusion-related measures in leadership performance reviews and evaluation processes 

  • Incorporate inclusion and anti-racism goals into organizational, strategic, and departmental planning processes 

  • Provide leaders with training on applying an equity lens in decision-making and people management 

  • Monitor progress and regularly review outcomes to support accountability and continuous improvement 

Evidence Requirements

To complete this commitment, organizations are asked to: 

  • Incorporate anti-racism and/or inclusion-related measures into leadership accountability processes, organizational planning, or performance reviews  

  • Implement at least two practices from the Employer Actions list above that support leadership accountability and organizational inclusion goals  

  • Submit a short reflection describing actions taken, progress made, and future opportunities for improvement  

Evidence may include: 

  • Strategic or organizational plans  

  • Leadership performance review templates  

  • Inclusion indicators or accountability measures  

  • Progress tracking documents or reports  

  • Leadership training materials  

  • Employee feedback summaries 

Impact

Including anti-racism and inclusion measures in leadership reviews and organizational planning helps embed equity goals into everyday decision-making. Clear goals and regular tracking strengthen accountability and support long-term progress. These practices help build more inclusive workplace cultures and leadership practices.
